Making Recordings
(Mostly Classical)
Cortland Music would like to lend you a hand in either making new recordings or in promoting existing recordings. This is especially true if you are either a classical musician or ensemble, or specialize in some other non-popular style of music. I have some rudimentary equipment that can be set up; we would just have to arrange a place and a time to do it. (I'm presuming that you are in the Cortland, NY area).
If you are able to make your own recording, I would be willing to manufacture and sell it using the same formula as on the
Selling CD's page. That is, the musician or ensemble gets $1 for each CD sold. If you sell them yourselves you get an additional $1 per CD. There are no "up front" costs.
Once a recording has been made, there are a few things that might be done.
- You might not like the recording at all, and not want it sold. In that case, the recording is yours.
- You might have your CD manufactured and sold by Cortland Music as described here.
- You could have the CD manufactured by a "real" company. That's fine, as long as I can manufacture and sell it too.
- You might want to use the recording for a "Demo" CD that you give away. You can make as many copies as you like for this purpose. If you want Cortland Music to make demo CD's... Hmmmm, I'll have to think about that one, stay tuned.
- Normally, one or two tracks of a CD are made available on this website as an MP3 file.
