Goals:

• Find or create opportunities for local musicians to give performances in public spaces.
• Encourage musicians at various levels: Professionals, Semi-professionals, Students, Amateurs, etc.
• Encourage the performance of styles of music that are under-represented in a public setting, such as:

  Classical Music, Non-U.S. Folk or Traditional Music, Operettas (e.g. Gilbert and Sullivan, Spanish Zarzuela), Original Compositions, Musical Theater, Jazz

Local Opportunities

• Classical Music Festivals: a series of events combining the talents of professionals, students and amateurs, held four times per year.

• Obtaining a DEC Grant:

• Classical Open Mic, Sundays from 11AM until 1PM at The Blue Frog Coffeehouse, Main St. Cortland, NY.

• Cortland Music is now in the business of making and selling recordings of local musicians.

• The Choral Union at SUNY Cortland. Stephen Wilson director/conductor. Rehearsals Mondays from 7PM until ~8:45 during the semester.

• Community Orchestra at SUNY Cortland. Rehearsals Monday evenings 7-9PM during the semester. Audition required. Contact Ralph Dudgeon at (607) 753-5721 or email dudgeonr@cortland.edu
